Overview
PEARL Infrastructure Capital II is the second PEARL vintage focused on European energy-transition and circular-economy infrastructure. It concentrates on controllable renewable-energy production, biofuels, biomethane, and energy-flexibility and storage infrastructure serving industrial, municipal, transport and electricity-network needs. The fund invests in both development-stage projects and existing assets undergoing expansion, retrofit or optimisation, with a focus on technologies and infrastructure that complement intermittent renewable generation.
PEARL Infrastructure Capital is an environmental-infrastructure investment platform founded by professionals from the energy, environment and waste sectors. It is a partner member of Edmond de Rothschild Private Equity. The manager takes active, majority ownership positions in mid-market environmental infrastructure projects in France and elsewhere in Europe. Its approach spans greenfield development and early-brownfield asset optimisation, with an emphasis on controllable or storable renewable energy, energy efficiency and circular-economy infrastructure.
Selected investments
- Energy Pool — The fund became the majority shareholder of Energy Pool, a French provider of energy-flexibility and energy-consumption-optimisation software and services.
- Arbaflame — The fund acquired a majority stake in Arbaflame, a Norway-based producer of black pellets, a solid biofuel used in industrial and power-generation applications.
- FICA HPCI — The fund is a shareholder in FICA HPCI, a French biomass-processing project developing HPCI Green Pellet, a solid biofuel intended to replace coal.
