Overview
Global Energy Transition Fund focuses on late-stage development and greenfield energy-transition projects in Europe, including the UK and Switzerland, and North America. It targets on-site generation, energy-efficiency and clean-energy solutions serving corporate and public-sector energy users, with activity across commercial buildings, digital infrastructure, healthcare, industry, power and transport. The fund was previously named the Green Energy Solutions Fund.
SDCL, founded in 2007, is a specialist energy-transition investor focused on efficient and decentralised energy infrastructure. Its strategy spans project development, construction and long-term operations, with investments in on-site renewable generation and storage, renewable heat, cogeneration, and measures that reduce energy use such as efficient lighting, heating and cooling systems, motors, and building controls. SDCL invests across the UK, continental Europe, North America and Asia, serving commercial, industrial, healthcare, digital-infrastructure and public-sector energy users.
Selected investments
- Duleek biomethane facility — The fund is investing in the construction of a biomethane production facility in Duleek, County Meath, alongside Carbon AMS. SDCL and Carbon AMS are shareholders in the project, which supplies renewable gas under an offtake arrangement with Alexion.
- Capwatt Iberian solar portfolio — The fund acquired a behind-the-meter solar portfolio in Portugal and Spain from Capwatt. The assets serve commercial and industrial sectors including manufacturing, food and beverage, packaging and construction materials.
